Sporting KC is on the outside looking in. Instead of playing in today's 2011 MLS Cup, the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo will instead vie for the honor. And it's a match-up that should provide a great contest as well as establish some league history.
As SB Nation's Jeremiah Oshan notes, "Whoever wins on Sunday will also move to within one win of United's four all-time wins. The Dynamo, Galaxy and Earthquakes are currently tied for second place all time with two MLS Cup wins. In the league's relatively short 16-year history, we have never been treated to a MLS Cup final quite like this one. The combined histories of these teams is barely even rivaled by any other matchup."
Houston advanced after beating Sporting KC 2-0 in the semi-finals. Los Angeles defeated Real Salt Lake 3-1 to advance.
