The Kansas Jayhawks made a critical error on their first possession of the second half. Kansas was forced to punt the ball deep in their own territory, but the snap sailed high and was recovered by Missouri's Kans Mike Cummings. With that fumble recovery the Missouri Tigers took over at the Kansas 14-yard line.
Missouri then was able to get the ball in the endzone on three plays to tie the game at 10 points apiece. Running back Kendial Lawrence handled the ball on all three plays and scored the tying touchdown on a 2-yard run.
The tide of this game might be turning as Kansas was stopped on a fourth-and-inches play as A.J. Steward was called for a false start penalty which moved the ball back five yards and forced Kansas to punt the ball.
