The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t going to get much in the way of respect this week, but their rating on some of the NFL Power Rankings lists coming in today are higher than one might expect — that’s likely because of their strong defense and grit shown on Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers, where the Chiefs had a chance to win the game on a final drive before Tyler Palko threw his third interception.
John Dudley has the Chiefs at No. 23 in his latest countdown. He writes, “Had the Chiefs found a way to win Sunday night against the Steelers they might have had some spring in their step as they head to Chicago this week.”
They still should feel about their chances on Sunday. Caleb Hanie showed that he’s turnover prone in his first start of the season last Sunday, throwing three interceptions in Sunday’s loss to the Oakland Raiders. The Chiefs defense, meanwhile, has been the saving grace of the team this season and they could possibly feast on Hanie if they made Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger earn their wins.
