Michelle Tafoya is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys are going to be a man down in the backfield for the rest of tonight's Sunday Night Football game against the New York Giants. Demarco Murray, who went down earlier in the game, is not going to return after suffering an ankle injury. Any further extent of the injury is not known at this time.
This isn't just bad news for the Cowboys but for fantasy football players as well who lose a very promising rookie. Murray has been rocketing up keeper lists as well as watch lists for Offensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL. Murray didn't even start to gain any number of significant carries until midway through October and yet he's nearly at 1,000 yards for the season and it seems the Cowboys really unearthed a gem when they drafted the Oklahoma back.
For the year, Murray has rushed 159 times for 872 yards and two touchdowns.
