The head coaching carousel is already spinning late in the NFL regular season with teams hoping for the next great hire, and it seems like the San Diego Chargers might be the next team adding a member to that ride with head coach Norv Turner always being on the hot seat, especially this seaon. Thus it’s important to note that Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post says that Bill Cowher has already interviewed for the job.
Cannizzarro writes, “I was told this week by an in-the-know source with intimate knowledge of the San Diego sports scene that Cowher already had "an interview’’ with high-ranking people inside the Chargers organization who were gauging his interest and that he expressed his interest in the job should Norv Turner be fired.”
Of course, this is just one rumor, so it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Some sportswriters throw pasta at the wall and hope it sticks — or at least that you’ll notice. Still the idea of Bill Cowher roaming the sidelines in the AFC West certainly makes the team a lot more interesting, and a lot of fans would believe that it makes them a lot more dangerous.
