Ole Miss has hired Arkansas State head coach Hugh Freeze to be their next football coach according to Rebels 247. Freeze, 41, just completed his first year as the head coach at Arkansas State in which he lead the Red Wolves to a 10-2 record and and a bid to the GoDaddy.com Bowl. Arkansas State will be facing the Northern Illinois Huskies.
Freeze succeeded former coach Jeff Roberts at Arkansas State, after spending 2010 as the offensive coordinator. The Southern Miss graduate is a Mississippi native and was on staff at Ole Miss during 2006 and 07 as the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator.
Freeze takes over for Houston Nutt, who resigned on November 7th. In four season with the Rebels, Nutt was 24-26 overall. The team finished this year with a 2-10 record and went 0-8 in conference play. After making back-to-back Cotton Bowl appearances, the Rebels were just 6-18 the past two seasons.
