The total will be over $62 million if the Green Bay Packers sell every piece of stock for the price listed that they are offering online right now — the fifth time the only publicly owned team in the NFL has offered such a sale. And you can now own your own piece of stock in the Packers for the sum of $250 by going to this website.
As the AP explains, “Packers stock isn’t like regular stock. The value doesn’t go up, there are no dividends and it has virtually no resale value. Stockholders do get voting rights, along with invitations to attend annual meetings where they can meet Packers executives, tour the Packers Hall of Fame and stick around for the kickoff of training camp.”
It’s my understanding that this doesn’t allow you to weigh in on moves like trading Brett Favre, starting Aaron Rodgers or drafting Randall Cobb. It does however qualify as the coolest piece of sports memorabilia you could have.
