It's almost fitting that on Valentine's Day, a day we celebrate for love, will see two teams play each other who have zero love lost between them. The Kansas Jayhawks will travel to Manhattan, Kan. to play the Kansas State Wildcats in Bramlage Coliseum.
The game tips off at 8:00 p.m. (CT) and by that time Kansas is expected to be named the No. 1 team in the country. After No. 1 Ohio State's loss over the weekend, it appears No. 2 Kansas or No. 3 Texas will be tabbed the new top team in the country on Monday when the latest college basketball rankings come out.
Kansas is of course hot as can be sitting at 24-1 this season and looking unstoppable at times. When they're on, it's hard to argue that they're the best team in the country. They'll be without Thomas Robinson, who is recovering from surgery on a meniscus tear, and Josh Selby is questionable as he recovers from a stress reaction.
Kansas State is 16-9 on the season and have a strong case as the most disappointing team in college basketball. They were ranked preseason No. 3 and started off OK before going into a tailspin. We know K-State has talent, which is why you can't sleep on them, but we just haven't seen them put it all together very often.
The Jayhawks are only a five point favorite in this game so oddsmakers expect Bramlage Coliseum to keep this thing close. Kansas destroyed Kansas State, 90-66, when they came to Lawrence, Kan. at the end of January.
