If you're coming up with a list of power rankings for the Big 12 conference, how do you rank the Kansas Jayhawks and Texas Longhorns? Kansas has just one loss on the season -- to Texas. The Longhorns are undefeated in the Big 12 but Kansas is ranked one spot ahead of them in the latest AP top 25 poll at No. 2.
SB Nation's Rock Chalk Talk has released this week's Big 12 power rankings and has Texas in the top spot followed by Kansas. Saying they feel Kansas is truly the better team, Rock Chalk Talk writes of the No. 2 (in the country and in the Big 12) Kansas Jayhawks:
We have the best offense in the conference, the best eFG in the country and the best two point shooting in the country. We have the best player in the conference, we have a couple of the better perimeter defenders in the conference (and two of them are local kids!), and we have two of the best rebounders in the entire country. Our only weakness right now is our Memphisian free throw shooting and of course our penchant for giving away huge leads.
Hard to disagree with a lot of this. Kansas is playing at a pretty incredible level right now and I, like Rock Chalk Talk, think they're the best team in the conference. But, give Texas credit. They went to Allen Fieldhouse and won and haven't lost in the conference yet. That deserves the top spot but KU is right behind them.
