We don't know a lot of details right now but you have to give it to Sporting KC, Kansas City's soccer team. They have announced the name of their new stadium in Kansas City which should be open for business later this summer and I think it will get good reviews:
Livestrong Sporting Park.
The team announced the news on the new stadium website LivestrongSportingPark.com. As a result of the partnership, a portion of all the stadium's revenues (ticket sales and concessions) will help fund the fight against cancer.
The team will officially announce the move at a 1:00 p.m. press conference (which has now been delayed due to weather) where we'll probably hear some more details. I'm very curious to hear more about this because it's a unique set-up.
Darren Rovell of CNBC reports, as of part of the deal, Sporting KC has guaranteed to raise (at least) $7.5 million over six years. We're not sure of any other details right now.
This is a really innovative partnership and one that makes a lot of sense. Good move by both sides.
