KU basketball player Thomas Robinson was cited by police for a misdemeanor battery charge in connection with an April 10 altercation outside The Cave, a Lawrence, Kan. nightclub. The Lawrence Journal-World first reported the news.
According to the report, several basketball players were outside the bar as it was closing. One person with the basketball players had some sort of altercation with a bouncer and hit him in the head. A bouncer who works at the club told the LJ World that he saw Robinson hit someone.
"He hit one of my buddies in the head," Lauridsen said, adding that he also saw Robinson spit on the bouncer.
The incident reportedly took place on April 10.
"We're handling it internally, and Thomas is handling it appropriately. That's all we're going to say at this point," Jim Marchiony, an associate KU athletics director, said Tuesday.
