Royals Strike Out on Road Trip, Streak Hits Six

The Kansas City Royals are now in desperate need of of some home cookin' at Kauffman Stadium after an 0-for-6 road trip through Texas and Cleveland. It took longer than many though, but the Royals now sit back under .500 at 12-13 as they took another one on this chin, losing 8-2 to the 16-8 Indians.

After having two decent starts his last two times out Kyle Davies was back to being...well...Kyle Davies. He lasted 3.1 innings and gave up eight runs on nine hits to balloon his ERA to 7.98 this season. Cleveland hitters combined for four home runs off Davies. The theme of the roadtrip seemed to be Royals pitchers giving up home runs as the visit to Cleveland didn't seem to go any better than the visit to Texas.

If you are looking for a positive amongst all the negativity the Kansas City bullpen did pitch 4.2 innings giving up just one hit to the Indians the rest of the night, but the damage had already been done. Fausto Carmona was solid for the Indians, giving up two runs on five hits over seven innings. He improved to 2-3, while Davies sits at 1-3.

Wilson Betemit picked up both Royals RBI's as he plated two with a seventh inning two-run double. Matt Treanor also picked up two hits for Kansas City, which mustered just six hits on the evening.

Tomorrow evening the Royals will be back on the field taking on the Minnesota Twins in Kansas City. Bruce Chen will pitch for the Royals against Scott Baker of the Twins.

C'mon Chen.
