On June 25th the Kansas City Royals will be entertaining the Chicago Cubs, but the biggest event of the day may be that also is the date Kansas City will enshrine former pitcher Kevin Appier into the Royals Hall of Fame.
↵“Ape” as he was known during his 16-year big league career, spent parts of 13 seasons donning the blue and white of the Royals, winning 115 games for Kansas City. He also is the Royals all-time leader in career stikeouts.
↵In 1993, Appier was 18-8 with a 2.56 ERA and finished 3rd in Cy Young Award voting. His ERA that season lead the American League. Appier’s only All-Star appearance came in 1995, when he went 15-10 with a 3.89 ERA.
