Former Kansas City Royals Pitcher Paul Splitorff Battling Cancer

If you follow the Royals, you have noticed over the past two years the ongoing health problems with former pitcher Paul Splitorff. Well today it was announced things have become more serious as The Kansas City Star reports Splitorff has been admitted to a local Kansas City hospital for treatment of oral cancer and melanoma.

Splitorff, 64, has the most wins in Royals history as he was 166-143 with a 3.81 ERA from 1970-1984 with Kansas City.

Since retiring, “Splitt” as he has been affectionately called, has been part of the Royals broadcast team for the past 24 seasons. He also was a familiar face on television covering Big 12 basketball.

We all wish Paul Splittorff the best during these times.
