Danny Duffy To Make Major League Debut Wednesday With Royals

Not even two weeks after calling up star minor league hitter Eric Hosmer, the Kansas City are now bringing up pitcher Danny Duffy. Bob Fescoe of 610 Sports has tweeted that he has been told Duffy will be called up to start tomorrow evening against the Texas Rangers. It is expected, the Royals will not officially announce the move until later this evening or tomorrow. At the moment there is no word of whose spot on the roster Duffy will be taking.

Duffy was selected by Kansas City in the third round of the 2007 Major League Draft and has advanced quickly through the system. The 6'3" 200 lb California native was rated as baseball's 68th best prospect coming into 2011 by Baseball America.

Pitching at AAA Omaha this season, Duffy is 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA in seven starts. He also features a 1.11 WHIP and has struck out 43 while walking 10 batters. Last season Duffy started in rookie ball and advanced all the way to AA, finishing with a 5-2 record for AA Northwest Arkansas, sporting a 2.95 ERA. Over his minor league career he is 27-14 with a 2.59 ERA.

In order to join Kansas City, Duffy will first need to be added to Kansas City's 40-man roster. To make room for the new pitcher, Kansas City must drop someone from the roster. Stayed tuned for more updates as this story develops.
