Despite a poor shooting performance for most of the first half, the Dallas Mavericks have roared back against the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals to take the lead, 44-43. Jason Terry saved the Mavs with 9 quick points off of the bench, including two three-pointers, and provided the team with enough juice to withstand several missed shots. However, Dirk Nowitzki provided the final punch near the end of the first half to take the Mavericks over the top.
Both teams are still incredibly close, however, and the Heat have enjoyed a balanced attack with Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade all looking good early. Mario Chalmers also contributed 10 points off of the bench. Nowitzki and Bosh are tied with 13 points apiece to lead all scorers heading into the half, while Jason Terry has 12. Bosh also leads with 7 rebounds.
