Breaking Royals News: Eric Hosmer Called Up To Kansas City

The day has come.

Immediately after Kansas City's 9-1 win today over the Orioles, it was announced Omaha first basemen Eric Hosmer has been called up to the Kansas City club and Kila Ka`aihuehas been sent down to Omaha. Previously today we had named Hosmer our Minor League Player of the Month for April.

The 6'4" 230 lb 21 year-old was the 3rd overall selection in the 2008 draft and was rated the 8th overall prospect in baseball by Baseball America prior to this season. Hosmer was batting .439/.525/.582 at Omaha and last season hit .338/.406/.571 with  20 home runs and 86 RBI splitting time between Class-A Wilmington and AA Northwest Arkansas.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Hosmer, the Royals also announced Jason Kendallhas been moved to the 60-day disabled list. Look for the slugger Hosmer to be in the starting lineup tomorrow evening at first base.
