Texas A&M Doubles Duo Take Tennis Title in NCAA Doubles Championship

Texas A&M doubles pair Austin Krajicek and Jeff Dadamo won the NCAA Tennis Doubles Championship on Sunday, defeating the host team from Stanford.

Krajicek and Dadamo defeated Stanford’s doubles team of Bradley Klahn and Ryan Thacher 7-6(4), 6-3 to become the first doubles pair from Texas A&M to capture a national championship in tennis. In fact, no one from A&M had ever made the championship finals in either singles or doubles.

“we’ve played them a couple of times before,” Dadamo said. “I think that helped us prepare for (this) match and to kind of know what to expect.”

The same two teams faced each other in the NCAA regional round earlier in May, with the A&M pair claiming the final set 9-8 in a tiebreaker. “All year long when we’ve been in tiebreakers, Austin and I have had a lot of confidence in each other, and we just try to raise our game to another level,” Dadamo said.

The team of Krajicek and Dadamo finished the year with a 27-3 dual-match record. They were seeded third coming into to NCAA Championship.
