Belmont Stakes 2011: TV Coverage, Race Day Info, Post Times

For horse racing fans looking to get the most out of your Belmont Stakes race day, you'll need to stay tuned to NBC and Versus for all of your coverage from beginning to end. NBC has you covered for the official race, yet Versus has all of the before and after with complete interviews with jockeys and trainers and coverage with full race analysis of the 143rd Belmont Stakes.

The match-up that will most likely highlight Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom against Preakness Stakes winner Shackleford happens tonight with an approximate post time of 6:36pm ET. Coverage runs on NBC from 5:00-7:00pm ET to cover the race as well as the previous race known as the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap, which posts at 5:35pm ET.

Racing starts at New York’s Belmont Park at 11:35am ET and continues through two more races after the official Belmont Stakes. The overall purse at stake for the 12 thoroughbreds is $1 million and first place wins $600K overall. It’s a title and earnings that the owners, trainers and jockeys of horses like the aforementioned Shackleford, Animal Kingdom or other favorites like Nehro or Mucho Macho Man would love to add to their resume.
