It’s a stat that’s almost so one sided it’s hard to beleve and it’s a stat that new Kansas athletic director Sheahon Zengher will certainly aim to correct.
During the 2010-2011 academic year the Kansas State Wildcats owned the Kansas Jayhawks in nearly every sport. Minus one victory on the basketball court where Kansas is thte traditional power, the Wildcats were superior head to head in every other area of athletics.
Tom Keegan of KUSports.com discusses the results today in a commentary and zeroes in on the fact that Zengher needs to hold people accountable in his new role.
If a coach of a nonrevenue sport chooses to whine about either the local newspaper or the K-State sports website reporting the data, he or she better not do so within earshot of first-year KU AD Sheahon Zenger. He’s not going to want to hear it. He’s not into using slogans in an attempt to create false perceptions about the state of the athletic department (aside from the perennial powerhouse men’s basketball program). Denial’s not his game. He’s interested in winning, not in offering a shoulder to capture the tears of those too often losing.
It’s a stat that’s certainly something to be proud of if you’re a Kansas State fan and something you’d like to see fixed in a hurry if you’re a Kansas fan.
