We’re into baseball’s so-called “Silly Season,” when trade rumors course through the media like a raging river with the approaching July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.
↵One such rumor reported today by a source close to the Texas Rangers is that the Rangers’ front office has approached the Kansas City Royals about closer Joakim Soria, only reportedly to be informed that Soria is not available.
↵At least one national baseball blogger has interpreted a ’not available" response only to mean “not available” below a certain price threshold.
↵It probably won’t be the last time we hear Soria’s name mentioned in a prospective trade before the end of the month.
