With the World University Games coming up in China from August 12-23, several former college basketball stars are trying out for the chance to join coaches like Purdue’s Matt Painter and Butler’s Brad Stevens on an overseas tour. And familiar local faces are in the mix to play.
Former Mizzou Tigers Marcus Denmon and Kim English are both competing to play in China after solid college careers. Jim Boeheim, Syracuse’s head coach, is expected to make the final call that should also include finalists like Vandy’s John Jenkins and Cincy’s Yancy Gates.
