Kansas Picks Up Verbal Commitment From Texas High School Quarterback Seth Russell

Coach Turner Gill and the Kansas Jayhawks secured the fourth member of their 2012 recruiting class with the verbal commitment today of quarterback Seth Russell of Garland, Texas.

Russell who stands 6'4" and 195 lbs chose Kansas over offers from North Texas and Wake Forest. 

Ranked a three-star recruit by Rivals, Russell is the 26th ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2012 class. The Jayhawks had offered Russell a scholarship back in early June.

Last season was his first year starting for the Garland Owls, a season in which he threw for 779 yards (7 TD  6 INT) and ran for 395 yards and three touchdowns.

As stated Russell is the fourth 2012 recruit for the Jayhawks joining previously committed-

Brian Beckman - 6'6" 280 lb OL Blue Valley West High School (three star per Rivals)

Daniel Gray - 6'0" 165 lb DB Boyd Anderson High School (Lauderdale Lakes, Florida) (three star)

Derek Keaton - 5'10" 165 lb RB Fairview High School (Camden, Arkansas) (two star)
