Purdue Running Back Sean Matti Drowns Over Holiday Weekend

Though Purdue doesn’t have a connection to the Big 12 Conference, it’s sad to report of the passing of fifth year walk-on running back Sean Matti of Purdue. According to the SB Nation’s Purdue blog Hammer and Rails, Matti was a hardworking behind the scenes football player who seemed to enjoy college football, even though he didn’t receive the playing time or high accolades of others.

Matti’s body was found on Tuesday morning at Lake Freeman, after Matti was last seen swimming in the lake around 5 pm on Sunday before he went missing.

A 22-year old senior from Shoreview, Minnesota, Matti didn’t have any statistics in the Purdue record book, but he will certainly be remembered amongst Boilermaker fans.
