Missouri Football Recruiting 2011: Tigers Gain Commitment From Ohio Quarterback Maty Mauk

Per a tweet from Scout.com's Allen Trieu, Missouri has gained an oral commitment from Kenton, Ohio's Maty Mauk. Mauk, a 6'2" 185 lb quarterback , is ranked 19th among pro-style quarterbacks according to Rivals.com. He choose the Tigers over offers from other BCS schools such as Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt.

Mauk becomes the 12th commitment to coach Gary Pinkel's program for 2012, and is the first quarterback to do so. Mauk is the second commit in the past week as Will Hines commited to the Tigers on July 1st. Hines, a 6'1" 175 lb cornerback from Waco, Texas chose the Tigers over a slug of other scholarships offers, including ones from Big 12 rivals Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech.

The Tigers have certainly put an emphasis on both Texas and Missouri during the 2012 recruiting process as five current commits hail from the Longhorn State, while four are Missouri natives (two from the Kansas City metro and two from St. Louis).
