It's A Done Deal! Bubba Starling Passes On Nebraska Football Scholarship; Signs $7.5 Million Deal With Royals

Back in June the Kansas City Royals asked Bubba Starling to the dance and after waiting for a period of two months, Kansas City finally has their date in the first around draft choice.

While it was a tough night on the field for the Royals, the fans and the front office are certainly celebrating as the Royals capped off a great day of deadline deals by signing the Gardner-Edgerton (Kansas) High School product to $7.5 million deal that will make Starling property of the Kansas City organization. John Heyman of Sports Illustrated first tweeted the deal. Keith Law first reported the money involved.

The 6'4" 190 lb athlete is quite the physical specimen and already looks the part of a major leaguer. In terms of projection, Starling has the highest ceiling of anyone selected in this year's draft and the potential to not only be a solid power hit, but also showcase a glove in the outfield that is well above average. As noted before, some have projected him most like Reds outfielder Drew Stubbs in terms of physical attributes.

We'll certainly have more on the newest Royals addition Bubba Starling in upcoming days.
