Former Mizzou Quarterback Blaine Gabbert Continues To Get First Team Reps With Jaguars

It was clear with the trade up in the first round by Jacksonville Jaguars GM Gene Smith that Blaine Gabbert was on the track to becoming an NFL starter — or at least that he’d be given every chance at some point. That time might be here before anyone predicted.

Even as David Garrard has come back from a pre-season injury, Gabbert continues to get some first team reps in training camp even with the starter fully healthy. Garrard is also getting some reps with the first team as well, so it’s not a direct statement whatsoever, but it’s clear that head coach Jack Del Rio is giving Gabbert a chance to impress and develop some chemistry with the Jags offensive starters. If anything, it bodes well for Gabbert to take over sooner than later, and perhaps that’s what the Jags brass is trying to do.
