Gary Woodland of Topeka, Kan., turned in a five-under-par score of 66 on Friday and is eight shots behind leader Matt Kuchar in The Barclays Open at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, NJ.
↵Dustin Johnson and Vijay Singh are tied for second, one strock back of Kuchar, heading into Saturday’s final round. The tournament has been reduced to 54 holes because of the serious weather threat posed by approaching Hurricane Irene.
↵Woodland, who played college golf at the University of Kansas, came into The Barclays tenth in the FedEx Cup standings. The Barclays is the first of four tournaments through late September that comprise the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup.
