Two-time men’s defending national champion Oklahoma State leads seven Big 12 cross country squads that are ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll.
The Cowboy men are ranked No. 1and are the preseason favorites to win their third consecutive national cross-country title. Oklahoma is ranked fifth in the preseason poll and the cross-country team from Texas is 26th in the men’s poll.
On the women’s side, Iowa State is the highest ranked team from the Big 12, at No. 10. The Cyclone women finished eighth at last year’s NCAA Championship, the second best finish in school history. the Texas women are ranked 14th, Texas Tech is 20th and Oklahoma State is at No, 26.
The Big 12 cross country season starts this weekend.
