MLB Analyst Peter Gammons Says Bo Pelini Has Helped Royals' Cause

Three-time national sportswriter of the year Peter Gammons, who now works as an analyst for MLB Network, is reported to have sent out a twitter message on Monday, stating “Bo Pelini’s going off on (freshman quarterback recruit) Bubba Starling is good news for the Royals.”

Starling, an all-state football and baseball player at Gardner-Edgerton High School in Johnson County, Kan., was recruited by Nebraska to play football and was the No. 5 overall pick in the MLB amateur draft in June of the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals have offered Starling, a hometown product, in the neighborhood of $8 million to sign with the Royals. Under MLB draft rules, he must decide by Aug. 15 whether he is going to accept the Royals offer or play football at Nebraska.
