What a debut from much maligned former Auburn and current Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton. The former Heisman trophy winner passed for 422 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-21 road loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
↵Newton would finish the game 24-for-37 with 422 yards and two passing touchdowns and an interception. He also would run for a score in the third quarter.
↵In his week one debut, Newton set a week one rookie debut record, and tied Matthew Stafford for the most single game passing yards ever in a rookie season.
