The bad news just got worse for Kansas City Chiefs fans. Second-year safety Eric Berry is out for the season with a torn ACL suffered in the first quarter of the season opening loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Berry is the one player on the Chiefs defense that they cannot replace, and this injury affects the season in a major way. The Chiefs demonstrated what their defense would look like without Berry in the 41-7 blowout to the Buffalo Bills. Sabby Piscitelli and Jon McGraw will need to play above and beyond what they have shown thus far this season in order for the Chiefs to have a chance to compete this season.
Berry is the second Chiefs player to join the IR so far this season. Tony Moeaki joined the IR after the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, also with a torn ACL.
It may be early in the season, but things are looking pretty meager for the Chiefs this year.
