The injury bug keeps biting Kansas City and the Chiefs are going to be scrambling on Sunday if things don’t settle going into the weekend. Starting guard Ryan Lilja already missed a couple of preseason games and now he’s missed today’s practice for unknown reasons. With the Chiefs already thin across the offensive line, this could spell trouble against the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills defensive line is stout with both Kyle Williams and Marcel Dareus in the middle and the Chiefs can ill afford to put up a patchwork effort along their offensive front. Barry Richardson and Jared Gaither both have had health concerns in training camp and Jon Asamoah and Rodney Hudson are either brand new or in new places. Only Casey Wiegmann and Branden Albert have a clean record with no concerns at this point.
The Chiefs have already lost Tony Moeaki for the year and Jon Baldwin is likely out against the Bills with a broken thumb. Matt Cassel is apparently playing with a cracked rib and now Lilja. It’s been a rough road for the Chiefs who probably cannot wait for a chance to silence the naysayers on the field Sunday.
