Former Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez Reaches Terms On Extension With Falcons

The assumption was that Tony Gonzalez was on the last legs of his NFL career when the Kansas City Chiefs dealt their star tight end to the Atlanta Falcons two seasons ago. Now the possible Hall of Famer has signed an extension to stay with the Atlanta Falcons for one more year. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that Gonzalez has signed a one year, $7 million deal to remain with the Falcons for yet another season. He’s been as steady as ever this year with 79 receptions for 867 yards and 7 touchdowns through 16 games. Matt Ryan loves having him as a receiving target and paired with Roddy White and Julio Jones gives the Falcons a true triple threat on offense.

Gonzalez was dealt for a second round pick in one of Scott Pioli's first moves as a general manager for the Chiefs and the eventual choice received in the deal became punt returner Javier Arenas.
