After dominating the time of possession in the first quarter, the Kansas City Chiefs finally broke through with a Dexter McCluster touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead over the Denver Broncos.
The Chiefs held the ball for just under 12 minutes in the first quarter and until McCluster's run had only a missed Ryan Succop field goal to show for it. Kansas City out gained the Broncos 162 to 14 in the first quarter. Kyle Orton threw for 84 yards in the first quarter and McCluster finished with 60 yards rushing on just five carries including his 21 yard run that put the Chiefs on top. Dwayne Bowe hauled in five catches for 74 yards in the quarter.
Tim Tebow and company will have the ball to open the second quarter and are looking for their first first-down of the game. Tebow missed on both of his passing attempts in the first quarter and the Broncos will be looking to get him involved more in the offense in the second half.
