Former Jayhawk Gary Woodland Finishes 24th In Year's Initial PGA Tour Stop

Gary Woodland of Topeka, Kan., shot par or better in every round over the challenging Plantation course in Kapalua, Hawai, but finished in 24th place, 20 shots off the pace, in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, the first PGA Tour event of the season.

Steve Stricker road a 10-under-par second-round score of 63 to jump out in front of the field, but saw his lead sink to a single shot before holding off a stiff challenge from Martin Laird on the final day Monday to win the tournament. Stricker had rounds of 68-63-69-69 for a total score of 23-under 269 over the par 73 Kapalua layout.
