On Wednesday afternoon, the 600 nominees were announced for the McDonald's High School All-American Men's and Women's basketball games.
Four boys from the Kansas CIty area were nominated, highlighted by 7'0" center Willie Cauley of Olathe Northwest. Cauley, who spurned an offer from Frank Martin's Kansas State Wildcats will attend The University of Kentucky next season.
Joining Cauley as nominees are-
Riley Falk - Onaga, Kansas 6'5" 175 F
Jonny Giess - Blue Valley Northwest 6'5" C
Broderick Newbill - Hogan Prep (Kansas City) 6'4" F
Olathe Northwest is currently ranked second (according to the KBCA) in Class 6A behind Wichita Heights, while the Huskies of Blue Valley Northwest are ranked third in 6A. Onage is unranked.
Hogan Prep is unranked in the latest MBCA/MoSports Top Ten.
The top 24 boys and girls from around the country will be selected to appear in the McDonald's All-American Game to be played March 28th at the United Center in Chicago. You can see the full list of nominees here.
