Bill Self Speaks Out Against Chiefs-Friendly National Anthem

Kansas Jayhawks mens basketball coach Bill Self is no fan of the current "tradition" going on at Phog Allen Fieldhouse - student fans have begun to alter the final stanza of the National Anthem from "the home of the brave" to "the home of the Chiefs," with some fans even performing a tomahawk chop to mimic fans of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Self expressed his displeasure to KUSports.com:

"I kept asking my wife, ‘What are they saying?’’’ said Self, informed by wife, Cindy, that some of the students mimic fans at Arrowhead Stadium — the true Home of the Chiefs — while singing the anthem.

"I said, ‘I didn’t know they were saying that. I couldn’t tell.’ I don’t think that’s good. I don’t think it’s anything we should be proud about as students to carry that on, because I don’t see the place for it when you are honoring your country," Self added.

Maybe Self, an Oklahoma native, is a Dallas Cowboys fan.
