Collin Klein will undoubtedly move up in the rankings after placing fourth in David Ubben's Big 12 quarterback rankings in 2011. Baylor's Robert Griffin III will automatically be gone. Brandon Weeden will, too. Landry Jones is coming back for his final season, providing the biggest competition for him, but the imports from West Virginia and TCU will not unseat him either. In fact, if K-State repeats their 2011 success next year, it will likely mean that Klein topped this list.
As for now, Ubben has three quarterbacks above Klein. He writes, "Don't like Collin Klein's release? Get over it. He deserves this spot via his ability as a runner. He ranked fourth in the league with his 1,141 rushing yards and tied the Big 12 record with 27 touchdowns. That also tied Ricky Dobbs' FBS record for quarterbacks. He also threw for 1,918 yards and 13 touchdowns."
Klein will undoubtedly be named among the Heisman hopefuls before the 2012 season begins.
