The No. 14th ranked Missouri Tigers women's soccer team fell to No. 9 Florida 2-1 Friday, losing ground on the Gators in the SEC East.
After a missed opportunity to score in the third minute of the game, the Tigers used a corner kick to set up senior Taiwo Adeshigbin for a goal to give Missouri a 1-0 lead. The Tigers' offense continued to control the ball through the first half, but couldn't manage another score.
The Gators offense took control in the second half, tying the game just eight minutes in. The Tigers and Gators both continued to miss opportunities to score until Florida's Adriana Leon sent a corner kick to Jo Dragotta, who shot it past Tigers goalie McKenzie Sauerwein to give the Gators the lead for good. The Tigers' first loss at home moved them to 12-3-0 on the season, 7-2-0 in conference and put them one game back of the Gators for first place in the SEC East.
They head to Tuscaloosa, Ala., Sunday where they play the Alabama Crimson Tide at noon CT.
