The No. 17 Kansas Jayhawks lost a Big 12 match to No. 22 Iowa State Wednesday night in Ames, 3-1 (22-25, 21-25, 29-27, 23-25). Opening the second half of Big 12 play with a loss drops Kansas to 7-2 in-conference and 19-4 overall. Iowa State improves to 12-7 (6-3).
Current National Player of the Week Caroline Jarmoc led the defense with nine blocks and 13 kills. Sophomore Sara McClinton had 14 kills to go with two blocks. Brianne Riley led Kansas with 17 digs. The Cyclones had seven aces in the match to the Jayhawks' three.
After falling two sets behind for only the second time this season, Kansas claimed the third set by staving off match point six times for the 29-27 win. In the fourth set, Kansas couldn't hold on after the score was tied at 18, and fell 25-23.
Kansas next plays against West Virginia, at home, on Monday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m.
