The struggling Kansas City Chiefs have little time to turn things around, as they travel to San Diego to face the Chargers on Thursday night.
The Chargers have struggled themselves, losing three in a row and four of their last five games. Last week's 7-6 defeat to the Cleveland Browns was particularly devastating for San Diego, as they had a Bye Week to prepare for a Browns team that had one victory in their first seven games. Quarterback Phillip Rivers had a particularly difficult game, only throwing for 154 yards and taking six sacks.
Despite the Chargers struggles this season, they are two games ahead of the Chiefs in the AFC West, and only one game behind the division-leading Denver Broncos. A win over the Chiefs would put San Diego back at .500 and let them at east keep pace with Denver.
The Chiefs will be starting Matt Cassel on Thursday after being replaced as the starter by Brady Quinn. For the Chiefs to be successful, however, they will need to get Jamaal Charles more involved in the offense. The prolific running back only had five carries Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, and number that is totally unacceptable.
