Sporting Kansas City's Graham Zusi finished the MLS season as the league leader in assists with 15, topping Landon Donovan of the Los Angeles Galaxy by one.
Zusi nearly doubled his assist output from 2011 and along with his five goals in 2012, accounted for nearly half of Kansas City's 42 goals. For his impressive season, the midfielder was named an All-Star and given call-ups to the U.S. Men's National Team.
Sporting also named Zusi co-MVP of the team along with goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.
Just behind Zusi and Donovan in the assists leaderboard were Mauro Rosales (13) of the Seattle Sounders, Marvin Chavez (13) of the San Jose Earthquakes and Brad Davis (12) of the Houston Dynamo.
Zusi and Sporting topped the Eastern Conference standings with 63 points and head into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed. Kansas City will begin its postseason run beginning with the first leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Nov. 4.
