Aldon Smith deals with rumors of being 'jumped' during 49ers' bye week

Aldon Smith denies being jumped outside a Mexican restaurant in Columbia, Mo.

Matt Kartozian-US PRESSWIRE

Trouble may have found former Missouri Tigers and current San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith again. Smith is denying a report from the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Mo., that he was jumped outside a Mexican restaurant.

The 49ers have been in contact with Smith and say there's nothing to the rumors. Smith mirrored that sentiment on his Twitter account. The student newspaper at the University of Missouri followed up with a police spokeswoman who said officers were dispatched to a disturbance at the restaurant but wouldn't elaborate on what the disturbance was.

This potential dust up could be the latest in a series of off the field issues for Smith. He was arrested and charged with a DUI in Miami Beach in late January. He was also stabbed multiple times at a house party he was hosting in July. Smith was taken seventh overall by the 49ers in the 2011 NFL Draft. He set the rookie record for sacks with 14.5 last season. He's currently sitting at 7.5 sacks through eight games this season.
