Forward Kevin Durant, center Kendrick Perkins and the Oklahoma City Thunder organization teamed up with Homeland and handed out turkeys and other food items to Oklahomans in need on Saturday in preparation for Thanksgiving, reports Nick Gallo of NBA.com:
On Saturday, Kevin Durant, Kendrick Perkins and the Thunder organization joined Homeland to host a Thanksgiving event at the Urban Mission in Northwest Oklahoma City.
The event took place at the Urban Mission in Northwest Oklahoma City, which supports needy Oklahomans with a grocery-store type atmosphere where families can choose the items it needs for Thanksgiving.
In addition to helping hand out food, Durant and Perkins signed autographs, met with children and adults and "enjoyed a number of big laughs with the Oklahomans," according to Gallo.
Perkins said "it’s always a blessing to just come out and give back to the community." Durant was in agreement, noting that these types of opportunities make "you realize the most important things in life." He added that knowing he can touch people’s lives just by meeting them "is pretty cool."
