Missouri baseball starts Fall World Series on Friday

Missouri will being fall practice to a close over the next week with the Fall World Series at Taylor Stadium.

The Missouri Tigers will get their annual Fall World Series underway on Friday, starting a seven-game intrasquad series that will close out fall practice. Last season, the Gold Team needed just five games to down the Black Team, winning 10-3 in the clincher.

Missouri has been at work in practice for a month now and needs to make sure it counts because they will be taking a step up in 2013. Their jump to the SEC takes things up a notch in Columbia and this is a Tigers program that has struggled to show any sort of consistency for a few years now.

The 2013 Tigers will ask a lot of its freshman class, making fall practice all the more impressive. Alex Rash is the headliner of the group, having spurned the Philadelphia Phillies to attend school and give the Tigers a traditional power right-handed pitcher. Missouri will also have to figure out where to play the multi-talented Keeton Steele, who can play both corner infield positions and pitch. He might end up doing both for the Tigers.
