After dominating performances against Southeast Missouri State and Wake Forest, Kansas Jayhawks forward Carolyn Davis was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday.
Davis, a 6'3 senior from Houston, Texas, scored 27 points against Southeast Missouri State to lead the Jayhawks to a 68-58 victory. She had a similar performance against Wake Forest with 22 points en route to a 64-58 victory. In addition to scoring over a third of KU's points during the two wins, Davis also pulled down 11 rebounds as the Jayhawks moved up from No. 25 to No. 22 in the nation.
On the All-Big 12 First Team in each of the last two seasons, Davis is considered a national player of the year award candidate and is among those in contention for the Naismith Award, Wade Trophy and Wooden Award.
The Jayhawks season will continue on Friday night when the team hosts Alabama A&M at 7 p.m. CT.
