The Tulsa Golden Hurricane (9-3, 7-1 C-USA) dropped their only conference game of the year on Saturday in their final regular season game. The SMU Mustangs (6-6, 5-3) defeated Tulsa 35-27 at Gerald Ford Stadium in Dallas, Texas, making the Mustangs bowl-eligible for a school-record fourth consecutive year.
Tulsa trailed 35-6 in the contest, before Cody Green led a furious comeback that was only thwarted in the waning seconds on the goal-line by the Mustangs' defense. Green threw for 413 yards and three touchdowns, and the Golden Hurricane offense amassed a whopping 591 yards of total offense against SMU. Tulsa was hindered by two lost fumbles and an interception.
Despite the loss, Tulsa will still face the UCF Knights (9-3, 7-1) in the Conference USA championship game next Saturday at 11 a.m. The Golden Hurricane will host the game after defeating UCF 23-21 just one week ago to earn homefield advantage.
