The Arkansas Razorbacks will take a break from SEC play this weekend when they host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, hoping to salvage a season that started disastrously.
Arkansas (3-5, 2-3 in the SEC) couldn't have come out worse in 2012, losing four of its first five games. In the last three games, the Razorbacks have scraped together a pair of victories against 1-7 Auburn and 1-8 Kentucky, but last week, they were back on the wrong side of the ledger with a 30-27 loss to Ole Miss. Arkansas lost on a last-second Rebels field goal, wasting a 161-yard rushing effort from Dennis Johnson in the process.
The going won't be easy against Tulsa (7-1, 5-0 in Conference USA), which leads C-USA East by a game-and-a-half over Houston and has won seven straight. The Golden Hurricane narrowly escaped a major upset against the winless Rice Owls last week, pulling out a 28-24 win. Despite a subpar day from quarterback Kalen Henderson, who came on in relief of an injured Cody Green, Tulsa took the win behind 235 yards on the ground, 169 of those from Ja'Terian Douglas.
Records aside, oddsmakers still expect Arkansas to come out on top. The Razorbacks are a 7.5-point favorite in a game that experts also predict will be a high-scoring affair, with an over/under of 64.5 points.
Kickoff will be at 11:22 a.m. CT at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The game will be on TV on the SEC Network.
