The Kansas Jayhawks have rebounded from bit of a bumpy start to the season and now sit on a four-game winning streak that has pushed the team to the top of the Big 12 basketball power rankings at ESPN, says Jeff King:
1. Kansas. Jeff Withey leads the Jayhawks in scoring (14.2) and rebounding (8.7) -- and his 6.2 blocks per game rank first in the nation. Kansas, though, needs to improve its outside shooting. Bill Self's squad is making just 29.6 percent of its 3-pointers. KU needs more leadership from senior point guard Elijah Johnson.
Kansas State sits at No. 3 on the rankings after a tough 71-57 loss at home to No. 4 Michigan last week. The Wildcats have not payed since Nov. 23 and are trying to find balance on a team where no five players are standing out to take over full-time starter duties. Kansas State will face USC Upstate on Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. CT.
Baylor has fallen out of the top 25 with losses to Colorado and College of Charleston and has become one of the most disappointing teams in the NCAA so far this season and sits at No. 4 on King's power rankings.
